I’m Kat Braybrooke, a curator, thinker and creator. I’ve been using open technologies since 2008 and thinking about how to use them for social justice and change for over 10 years. I started as a journalist and am now the editor of Engadget, where I focus on the intersection between technology and society.
Kat Braybrooke has been using open technologies since 2008 and has a strong passion for the democratization of knowledge. She has been part of many collaborative projects that have brought the accessibility, transparency and elegance of the Internet to a whole new level.
Kat’s work includes curating content for magazines, websites and exhibitions. She is also an author and has created several tools like Dictate, a writing assistant that helps you with your everyday writing tasks at an unprecedented scale.
Her inspiration comes from watching her father, who built up his knowledge (in both engineering and computing) by tinkering with what he had in his hands – whether it was creating a bicycle or programming in COBOL!
I am a creator, curator and thinker who has been using open technologies since 2008. I believe that creative people should be empowered through their creative work.
I have used open technologies for the last 10 years – from building and co-founding an open source software, to curating and hacking on open hardware, to writing about my work as a creatively-driven designer and maker. I believe that creative people should be empowered through their creative work as much as possible in order to get the most out of it.
My work is an exploration of how technology can bridge the divide between different people, groups and cultures.
