Talk: An open knowledge festival

Free City/Vaba Linn was an annual festival in Tallinn that explores the question „How to think of an open-source city?“, focusing on open source implementations of technology that can engage citizens as active actors in urban spaces through implementations of art and policy. Along with a talented roster of artists, theorists and leaders in urban participation, Open P2P Design’s Massimo Menichinelli and I were invited to give a keynote presentation about our experiences as coordinators of the world’s first open knowledge festival, OKFestival in Helsinki, Finland. We also spoke about our work with FABLabs as FAB* and about how changes in access to public information have helped transform digital cultures around the world.
